How to set up your documents to use your own domain

If you’re going for the 100% branded look (which you should), you’ll want to set up your custom domain so that your document links use your URL and not ours. This feature is available on our Premium and Enterprise plans.

How it is right now

By default, the documents you send out will send a link to your recipients which load on the Better Proposals URL. It looks like this:

Here’s how to do it:

First, click 'Settings' in the left sidebar. From there, click 'Setup' and pick the brand you wish to set a custom domain for under the 'Branding' section, and click the ‘Custom domain’ tab.

  • Enter the subdomain that you want to use, for example, ‘docs.yourdomain.com’ and click ‘Next’.

  • On the next step, you can choose which DNS provider you use. We’ve provided instructions for the popular ones, but you can click ‘Other’ if yours isn’t on the list.

  • You’ll then be provided with the values to add a CNAME record to your DNS.

  • Once you’ve done that, you just need to click ‘Verify Record’ and wait for the status to turn green.

  • If you aren’t able to verify the record straight away, don’t worry, you can come back to finish the setup later.

Once the record is verified and your custom domain is active, you can preview any of your documents to see them load on your URL.
