Get your clients onboarded faster with Onboarding

Do you need some extra information from your client? No problem, add a form to your onboarding. Want to schedule a call once they sign? Easy, integrate Calendly. Need to redirect your customer to a custom URL? We've got you. Do all this in whatever order best suits your sales workflow.

Activating Onboarding inside your account

To gain access to Onboarding, you'll first need to activate it inside your account. To do this, go to Settings > Admin > Onboarding. You'll be presented with a page that explains what activating Onboarding means for your account and you can go ahead and click the 'Activate Onboarding!' button at the bottom.

Once activated, you'll see a new Onboarding has been automatically generated for each of your brands (if you have multiple).

Editing your Onboarding steps

On the right of your Onboarding, just click the 'Edit' button and you'll be taken to the Onboarding Editor. It follows a similar flow to your documents with the sidebar on the left with your Onboarding steps.

By default, you'll have a 'Thank you' step and if you have any payment integrations setup, they'll be an additional payment step added automatically.

You can edit any step name by hovering over the step in the sidebar, clicking the settings icon and editing the name in the right-hand sidebar that appears and clicking 'Save and preview'

Adding additional steps works the same way you'd add additional sections in the template editor. Just click the + icon in the left-hand sidebar you'll be presented with various step options including:

  • Forms

  • Content block

  • Booking Calendar

  • Payment

  • Redirect link

Creating new Onboarding flows (Premium and Enterprise)

You may find you require different Onboarding flows for different types of customers, to do this, just click the 'Create new Onboarding' button on the top right of the Onboarding page and you can create as many Onboarding flows as you need.

Adding a form step

Click the form option when adding a new step and you'll be given two options

  • New form

  • From Library

You can create a new form from scratch or you can add one from your form library. We have a separate article on how to create/edit your forms here

Once you've added your form to your Onboarding, you've got a few options available to you in terms of how that form functions inside your Onboarding. To access these options, hover over your form step in the sidebar and click the Settings icon. It'll bring up a sidebar on the right which will allow you to determine if the form should be filled out only once or per recipient. This is useful when sending to multiple recipients as you may not want a form filled out multiple times by each recipient.

You also have the option to CC the form data so it's automatically emailed to whoever requires that additional information. With the added benefit of toggling the document link to be included if required.

Adding a booking step

You'll need to go to Settings > Integrations > Bookings > Calendly and make sure your Calendly integration is setup. If the step is greyed out, you can always click the prompt that pops up and it'll take you straight to the integration page to get your Calendly integration setup.

Once you've successfully got Calendly integrated and added the Booking step, you'll see a dropdown to select the appropriate call, then click 'Add Calender' and it'll add that calendar to your Onboarding.

Setting up a custom redirect

You can set the last step of your Onboarding to be a custom redirect to a URL of your choice. This could be used to send them to your website or some other payment portal, whatever you need. Just click the + icon to add a new step, select Redirect and then paste the link in the 'Redirect to' field and click save.

You can go ahead and Preview your Onboarding by clicking the Preview button in the top right and make sure it works exactly how you need it to.

Assigning an Onboarding to a Template

You can assign any Onboarding to a template by opening the template editor, then clicking the Settings icon in the top right and assigning the appropriate Onboarding flow to your template.

When you create a document from that template going forwards, the correct Onboarding will already be assigned for you.
